Golf Courses Near Washington, North Carolina
Harry Smith earned his BS in business administration from East Carolina University. In 1997, he joined Flanders Corporation in North Carolina, a major manufacturer and distributor of air filters. He was promoted to CEO in 2007, and in 2009 Harry Smith became chairman of the corporation. An avid offshore angler, Harry Smith also enjoys a good round of golf.
There are numerous public and private golf courses around Greenville, about 22 miles west of Washington, North Carolina. However, there are two private golf courses within a very short drive of Washington. The first is the 18-hole championship course operated by the Washington Yacht and Country Club, approximately 5 miles southeast of Washington, on the Pamlico River. The course was originally built with 9 holes in 1949, with an additional 9 holes added in 1977. The course measures 6,609 yards from the blue tees.
The Cypress Landing Golf Club, located in Chocowinity, North Carolina, is about 5 miles south of Washington. A par-72, 18-hole course, it measures 6442 yards from the blue tees, and is open for play rear-round. Cypress Landing is a very popular course, and recommends scheduling tee times a full 7 days in advance.
